MILAN: Italian MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso will bear surgical procedure on a damaged collarbone later Sunday, his Ducati workforce confirmed, simply weeks earlier than the world championship season begins.
The 34-year-old landed badly competing in a motocross race at Faenza, close to his dwelling within the Emilia Romagna area in central Italy.
“After struggling a crash throughout a motocross race in Faenza, Andrea Dovizioso has sustained a left collarbone harm,” the workforce stated on Twitter.
The workforce didn’t specify the harm however the Italian media reported it was a damaged collarbone.
Ducati added that after session with docs “Dovi has determined to proceed with surgical procedure this night in Modena to be slot in time for the beginning of the 2020 MotoGP season.”
Dovizioso has raced for Ducati since 2013 and completed runner-up in every of the previous three seasons behind Spaniard Marc Marquez.
The 2020 MotoGP season will begin following the coronavirus lockdown on July 19 in Spain on the Jerez circuit.
The season was initially scheduled to begin on March eight in Qatar.
